Help the Global Cost Of Living

The Global FoodBanking Network (GFN) supports community-led solutions to alleviate hunger in nearly 50 countries. While millions struggle to access enough safe and nutritious food, nearly a third of all food produced is lost or wasted. We’re changing that. We believe food banks directed by local leaders are key to achieving Zero Hunger and building resilient food systems.

The cost of food, fuel, and fertilizer has risen rapidly across the globe. Rising food prices mean that fewer people can afford a nutritious diet—and as many as 1.7 billion people could fall into poverty and hunger as a result.

To support the Network during this critical time, we are launching a global Cost-of-Living Crisis Response to help our partners maintain and increase levels of service at a time when communities need that support the most.

For example, in Canada a record number of people used food banks this year, with high inflation and low social assistance rates cited as key factors in the rise. “What we are seeing is the combination of long-term effects to a broken social safety net combined with the effects of inflation and high costs driving more people to use food banks than ever before in Canadian history,” said Kirstin Beardsley, the CEO of Food Banks Canada. During this campaign, every dollar you give helps GFN network food banks, like Food Banks of Canada, feed families.
